CMMS
Computerized Maintenance Management System
Computer software that enables the management of maintenance operations and equipment.
EOQ
Economic Order Quantity
The quantity ordered which item usage history has determined to be the most economic.
JIT
Just In Time (Parts)
Required parts and supplies needed for maintenance arrive “just in time” for their use.
MIN
Minimum
The fewest number of an item required to be kept on hand before being reordered.
MAX
Maximum
The maximum number of an item to be kept on-hand.
MRO
Maintenance, Repair, Operations or Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul
An acronym for the above functions.
O&M
Operations and Maintenance
An acronym for the above functions.
SKU
Stock Keeping Unit
A term used as an identifier for one item in stock.
P/N
Part Number
A numeric or alphanumeric identifier for a part.
PR
Purchase Requisition
A CMMS-generated or hand-written document requesting the purchase of the specified item(s).
PO
Purchase Order
A legal document generated by the Purchasing Department for the purchase of specified item(s).
ROP
Reorder Point
Frequently used as and called the Minimum.  The quantity at which an item is reordered.
Tool Crib
A storeroom for the mobile equipment, ladders, and all other tools, tooling and related supplies used by maintenance.
UOM
Unit of Measure
The standard unit in which an item is ordered, 6 each, 5 feet, 10 lbs. 24 quarts, 1 dozen, etc.
